Heartland Consulting, a Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is seeking exceptional professionals to support the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) Financial Management Directorate (FMG). You will directly advance warfighter readiness by modernizing financial operations, achieving standalone audit readiness, and delivering measurable efficiencies - all strictly within the USUHS environment and tools.
Job Summary
Deliver expert accounting and financial reporting support using generally accepted accounting principles and DoW systems to ensure accurate financial statements and full audit support for USUHS.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a staff of professional accountants and/or auditors engaged in the interpretation of generally accepted accounting principles, governmental regulations, billing, and financial reporting.
Prepare financial statements, review complex financial and accounting transactions, and maintain extensive historical records for general ledger balances.
Prepare journal entries utilizing the GFEBS financial accounting system.
Provide financial transaction research and analysis, including review of project work papers and documentation necessary to support an adequate audit trail.
Utilize advanced data visualization and AI to perform multiple-year strategic budget modeling and anomaly detection.
Support PP&E depreciation, capital asset valuation, and all other accounting operations required for audit readiness.
Required Qualifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure by the appropriate state licensing authority and in good standing.
Ten (10) or more years' experience as an accountant, with experience managing a staff of professional accountants and/or auditors.
Five (5) or more years of DoW government accounting experience.
Five (5) or more years of preparing financial statements, reviewing complex financial and accounting transactions, and extensive historical records relating to calculating general ledger balances, including preparing journal entries utilizing the GFEBS financial accounting system.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or Business with 24 semester hours in Accounting.
Experience in providing financial transaction research and analysis activities.
Proficiency in Advanced Data Visualization and the use of AI to perform multiple-year strategic budget modeling and anomaly detection.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Ten (10) or more years of government auditing experience.
Two (2) or more years of experience in Risk Management and Internal Controls.
Experience in calculating Property, Plant, & Equipment (PP&E) depreciation.
Experience in valuing capital assets.
Experience in the use of DoW financial accounting systems, specifically GFEBS.
